Circadian Biorhythms

Throughout their existence human beings have studied the effects of the sun, moon and stars on their lives.

The cycles of day and night and the changes in season have been a basic of religious belief and scientific study, and in the 20th century it was discovered that the pineal gland is a sensitive to light, receiving sensory data from the retinae. It translates these signals of day-night light cycle environment into hormonal signal sent through the body. This results in a daily biorhythm known as “circadian rhythm”.

The length it takes to complete a single cycle of the circadian rhythm is known as the “period” and is usually a full day.  The secretion of melatonin by the body and the pineal increases at night. By this method,  other organs are communicated with and kept in balance.

We now know that these include your intuitive, sometimes known as psychic, cycle.

This 38 day rhythm matches the “4 aspects” of Plato and the “4 functions” of Carl Jung. Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist, described these functions as thinking, feeling, sensation and intuition. They relate directly to your four biorhythm cycles – physical, emotional, intellectual and intuitional and they all combine to control your physical and mentalwell being.
